2011 is proving to be a cracking year. Over 40 weddings, most from referrals: that's mighty reassuring feedback.
The days of Wedding Photography hinging on unneccesarily stodgy seriousness are long gone. That's why I think people like what we offer - we're a sparky, independent group of top class photographers who get the job done quickly and with easy going rapport. And the proof is in the pudding. The photos are always excellent.
Thanks to the BBC for featuring Greg McGee Photography in their series, 'Don't Tell the Bride': its led to 9 more commissions already.
And thanks too to York's 'Local Link' magazine for flagging Greg McGee Photography up as an arty, stylish option to the many dozens of photographers in North Yorkshire.
Plenty of weddings in April - Rakesh and Fran, Sheener and Jooles, Kelly in Harrogate, Becky and James, and Martin and Mary down Bath way. Clevedon: beautiful views. We travel all over the UK - a wedding in Cornwall in June awaits. Emma and Ady rocked Gisbrough Hall to its foundations. Louise and Tim showed York what it's been missing out on for far too long - classy, photogenic bride and bridesmaids, that's what!
May saw plenty of Proms and Sixth Form Balls to cover, as well as Vanita's and Gonzalo's day of Pimms and croquet at Middlethorpe Hall, and Imogen and David's day at Sandburn Hall. Chloe and Jonny's big day saw off the month perfectly. Claire and Alex at Rushpool Hall, and Karen and James at Wynard park is what it's all about - HOT people and HOT locations.
June has Jonathan and Jean's day in the centre of York, Ryan and Lorraine's in Doncaster, and Tim Garbutt and Sarah Jo Drinkel's at Hummersea, Loftus. Tim is the son of old family fave Vin Garbutt. The honour, dear reader, is all mine.
Three weddings in Redcar in July. Lemon Top Ice Creams are the new Rock n' Roll! Cheers Avon & Shannon, Sally & Jason and Suzy & Dominic.
August was choc full of big wedding bashes. Julia and Chris at Sandburn Hall was a blast. Sarah, the Wedding Manager there, runs an impressively tight ship. Jill and David walked back down the aisle to AC/DC. Laura and Tim at Churchills, then Simon and Bex in the East Midlands. Prestwolds Hall: unutterably stunning. Sarah and Greg's day was wonderful. St Joespeh's Church in Middlesbrough, and then Tree Bridge just outside Stokesley. A graceful, radiant bride and a witty, elegant groom. A perfect wedding, with two warm hearted families and one of the best Best Man's Speech I've ever heard. Alex and Peter brought the party over to Chapters in Stokesley. The spirit of Rock and Roll was in the house! Beautiful people, elegant dancing, and some white hot anecdotes providing a lot of laughter - all great subjects for the discreet clicking of our reportage cameras.
September was indeed a season of mist and mellow fruitfulness - 3 weddings in Scotland was somewhat of a freak coincidence. A wee dram after each one (or should that be 'yin') was just what the doctor ordered.
Leila and Phil's wedding last week was magical, and Yvonne and Ian's in York was by all accounts a blast.
Photos for late September and early October Weddings coming very soon - email me for passwords and username, greg@accordingtomcgee.com or gregmcgeeyork@gmail.com
The York Theatre Royal promo shots have been fantastic, good luck with the riff of shows: that's a very professional ship you people run.
If you've any queries or want to make a booking, please do get in touch - we're getting booked up all the time!
York - what a place for a Wedding Photographer! The city is increasingly photogenic, and our team know how to get the best out of the surroundings as well as the guests. 2011 is shaping up to be a sparky year. Remember though - we travel all over the country.
Thanks,
Greg McGee
